Rajnath Singh conducts review meeting on border infrastructure

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday conducted a comprehensive review of India’s border infrastructure along the northern borders with China and Pakistan, official sources said. The review meeting was attended by Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat, Army Chief Gen MM Naravane, Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria, Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh, Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar and other senior officials of the Ministry of Defence. The sources said the focus of the meeting was to review the status of various infrastructure projects along the northern borders, including roads, bridges, tunnels and other facilities required to enhance the operational preparedness of the armed forces. The Defence Minister was briefed about the progress made so far and the timelines for completion of the remaining projects, they said.The sources said Singh directed the officials to ensure that the projects are completed within the stipulated timelines and in accordance with the highest quality standards.He also emphasised the need to ensure that the infrastructure is in sync with the operational requirements of the armed forces and meets the future challenges, they said.The Defence Minister also reviewed the overall security situation along the northern borders and was briefed about the measures being taken to ensure the safety and security of the borders, the sources said.They said the Defence Minister expressed satisfaction over the measures being taken and directed the armed forces to remain vigilant and maintain a high level of operational preparedness.He also commended the armed forces for their dedication and commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders, the sources said..
