Made for Breastfeeding vs. Work for Breastfeeding Shirts

There is one important thing you need to pay attention to when picking out a shirt for breastfeeding, some are designed with breastfeeding mamas in mind and others are just normal shirts that make it easy to nurse your little one. Nothing is wrong with either option! However, I recommend starting off with shirts that are made for breastfeeding. Then, once you’ve really got the hang of things you can choose normal shirts.

The Best Trendy & Comfy Breastfeeding Shirts

Shirts So Cute No One Will Notice They’re for Nursing

Breastfeeding shirts don’t necessarily have to look like breastfeeding shirts! You can keep your typical cute style while wearing a shirt that will make it way easier for you to feed your little one.

Classic White V-Neck

Leave it to ASOS to design a staple white t-shirt for nursing mamas! This v-neck can go with just about anything and can be dressed up or dressed down. It is double-layered, which is what will give you breastfeeding access! Don’t fret though, it is still a super light-weight tee.

Side Access Nursing Tee

Normal in the front, nursing from the side! This shirt from Motherhood Maternity looks like your typical everyday tee, but it has a zipper on the side so that you can easily pop baby in when it’s time to nurse.

Zip Front Maternity Jumpsuit

Who needs a shirt and pants when you could simply wear a jumper instead? The zipper down the front simply looks edgy and trendy, but really it’s a way to make this super cute outfit nursing friendly! Pair this with sandals for weekend brunch or a blazer for a work meeting, it is such a versatile piece to add to your nursing wardrobe.

Anything from Liquid Gold Vintage

When we say anything, we mean anything! Shop owner, Alexis Kristiana, curates a collection of vintage finds that are nursing friendly. Every piece is unique, gorgeous, and functional. Most importantly, they will give new moms the confidence to be bold and claim their own personal style.

Breastfeeding Shirts for Lounging

I will start off by saying this, as a new mom it is perfectly acceptable to always be in comfy lounge clothes! While you might want a couple of cute tops, what you really need is clothes for around the house and running errands when you feel like keeping it comfortable.

Maternity Nursing Button Side Sweat with Mama Slogan

Of course, our list wouldn’t be complete without a slogan sweatshirt! I personally love that this top lets everyone around know that you’re a new mama and have the right to be cozy all day, every day. This sweatshirt also has a double-layer design which is perfect for nursing.

Milk Maker T-shirt

Since you will probably be wearing a nursing bra or tank top most of the time, it is a good idea to have a couple of simple t-shirts around to throw over them. Own your new role with this “milk maker” graphic tee! It comes in 6 gorgeous colors and inclusive sizing from xsmall-2xl.

June Maternity & Nursing Pajamas

This is apparently a pajama set but it is definitely something you could also wear all day long. It is super soft, comes in a pretty lavender or chic black, and is a lightweight material. It is the cutest nursing loungewear set I have ever come across and will definitely become a go-to outfit during postpartum.

Loose Waffle-Knit Henley

These waffle knit tops are taking the nursing mama world by storm. They are comfortable, fashion-forward, and make nursing easy. Thankfully this henley comes in a ton of different colors because you might just want two of them for your closet! While it isn’t necessarily made for nursing moms, you can easily unbutton the top two buttons and it will work perfectly as a breastfeeding shirt.

This top runs pretty true to size, so you may want to size up for a baggy fit. Also, keep in mind it is longer in the back and shorter in the front.

Long Sleeve Wrap Sweater

If you like feeling like you are wrapped in a blanket 24/7 (like me!) then you will adore this wrap sweater. It is incredibly soft and the material is visibly high quality. The neckline makes it great for nursing at home or out and about!

This sweater is definitely over-sized and quite long! Personally, I think it is cute this way but if you want a more fitted look order 1-2 sizes down.

Nursing Tank Tops for Layering

I always kept a good collection of breastfeeding tank tops around when I was in the nursing phase. I loved that I could wear them around the house and then throw anything over them, from sweatshirts to flannels, when I headed out.

Simple Breastfeeding Tank Top

This breastfeeding shirt is one of my favorites because the henley-style buttons (they’re just snaps, so they still provide easy nursing access) make it look stylish under a cardigan or sweater. No one will know all you have on underneath is a nursing tank top! This tank top is stretchy, so you can wear it during pregnancy and postpartum. Another thing I love about this tank top option, the straps are thick and will hide your bra straps.

Mamas say it runs a little big, so you may want to size down if you want it to really hold you in.

Organic Cotton Nursing 2-Pack

This organic 2-pack comes with both a black and a white tank top, so you will have your bases covered. They have a scoop neck and fit true to size, but are stretchy enough to fit during and post-pregnancy. As you can see in the photo, there are drop-down clips that give you easy access for nursing.
